Is there a song [lyric or music] that brings you to tears!?

sound strange but some friends and I had this conversation today and we actually all welled up at "Goodbye My Lover" by James Blunt lol!! but tonight i was driving home, alone and in the dark - and Alibi by David Gray came on and i felt myself welling up at the desperation of the music and lyrics!! Biffy Clyro songs do, the lyrics Simon Neil writes about his mothers death.

anyone else get this? and if so which song?! or do you think the setting in which you listen to the song sets you off, in relation to the song - like being alone - and a song about being alone.

okay im babbling lol :]]]]

'Lacrimosa' in Mozart's Requiem Mass. The tears are of joy over a great choral music piece. A more recognizable work is 'Maria' from West Side Story. That song and musical have many parallels to my life, except I didn't get shot.

A lot of music makes me cry. Simon and Garfunkel almost always do, Tchaikovsky does too, and then sometimes some weird things that you wouldn't think should do, like The Smashing Pumpkins, or The Talking Heads.

Here are a few that set me off -
theme from Mahogany by Diana Ross,
Bright eyes - art Garfunkel
The Boxer - Simon & Garfunkel
Yellow - Coldplay - the lyric 'for you i'd bleed myself dry'
The lonely old people - Wings
Woman and Jealous guy by John Lennon
Just off the top of my head - they don't always set me off, have to be down in the first place - not much of a cryer to be honest.

There's a song the Distillers do on the Coral Fang album that makes me cry everytime. I can't think of the name of it right now though.

"Its never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
Its never over, all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her
Its never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
Its never over, shes the tear that hangs inside my soul forever"

Yes I cry every time I listen to Anna Nalick - Just breathe. I usually listen to it alone but once I heard it on the radio when I was with my grandma and I started to tear up. I relate to it in my own way. I feel like shes taking the words right out of my mouth.

"illusion", by vnv nation. I don't usually listen to it when i am happy because it makes me cry, I listen to it when i am sad because it seems to be what I need, to feel better like I'm understood.

I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton, and The Dance by Garth Brooks. Both songs were played at the funeral of a friend that I loved dearly. Then there's The Baby by Blake Shelton because that's what my grandmother always called me when she was alive.

My Immortal by Evanescence. It doesn't make me cry (I can't) but it definately hits home. Personal reason etc etc. I'm having that song played at my funeral.
